FAQs

  • All therapy works through the relationship you have with your therapist, which offers you the opportunity to work through your issues and try out new ways of thinking, feeling and being.

Counselling is short-term, therapy that will typically last between 6 and 15 sessions. It helps you identify coping strategies for an issue in your life and ways to work through it. It offers a space that is warm, empathic and non-judgemental.

Psychotherapy is longer-term, open-ended therapy that allows you the time and space to delve deeper into the issues affecting your life. It can help you identify unhelpful patterns and behaviours that often have roots in childhood and it can help you work towards healing your deepest wounds..

  • In a first session, the aim is usually to get to know each other, to start to understand what has been causing you difficulties and to reach a joint understanding of how to move forwards – this may be longer term therapy, a different type of service or even no therapy at all.

  • There is no specific time frame when working on personal development and growth. Depending on the type of changes that you are looking to make and the variety of issues that you are attempting to work on, therapy can last from a few sessions to much longer. Some find therapy to be extremely beneficial and choose to make it a long-term process.

  • There are many benefits to engaging in therapy. Some of these include: gaining a better understanding of oneself, figuring out life goals and prospects, improving personal relationships, developing coping skills, enhancing problem-solving abilities, making positive changes to problem behaviours, and boosting self-esteem. Your therapist will work with you throughout this process and offer new insight to an issue that you have been struggling with. The benefit that you obtain will ultimately depend on how committed you are to the treatment.

  • We ask you to leave a credit card on file before you meet with your therapist. You can choose to pay at the end of the session in person or we can run your credit card for you at the end of each week. Amex, Visa, Mastercard, Debit, Cash or Cheques are all accepted.

  • If you are committed to making personal changes for greater life satisfaction, then you are ready to seek therapy. Many people believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems” in order for therapy to be appropriate. This is not the case, anyone can benefit from therapy. Some even choose to come in for insight only.

  • Our cancellation policy requires 24 hour notice of cancellation. Cancellation with less than 24 hours notice requires payment in full. If you are unable to attend your session in person, you can always do it via phone or video.

  • The length of our sessions depend on the type of service you receive:

An individual therapy session is 50 minutes.

A couples session is 60 or 90 minutes.
